Books I Love

BlogBooks

On Facebook, this rare time I popped in to check what’s on, I saw myself tagged in a post where a friend had listed her favourite books and then asked the people tagged to do the same. Though i am not so active on facebook as I used to be, this particular chain-post struck me as interesting. If you have a lot of friends who read you can see a lot of books in their lists which you may not have read and since they have listed them as favourites, chances are that they may actually be good books.

Unfortunately, in the few lists I saw on my feed, there wasn’t any book I hadn’t yet read.

It is difficult to pick just 10 of my favourite books… So I am not gonna pick any favourites. I will just pick those books which I have read as a child and which gave my imagination wings. These were the books that were my companions in my first full-fledged adventures where I wove even more fantastical realms than those printed on their pages. Some are not just one book, but a series.

In no particular order:

  1. Silmarillion, The Hobbit & The Lord Of The Rings – J R R Tolkien

  2. Gone With The Wind – Margaret Mitchell

  3. It – Stephen King

  4. Kane & Abel – Jeffrey Archer

  5. The Spoils Of War – Thomas J Fleming

  6. The Egyptian Series – River God + Seventh Scroll + Warlock + The Quest or The Adventures Of Taita (as I like to call the series)

  7. The Sherlock Holmes Series – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

  8. The Space Odyssey Series – 2001: A Space Odyssey + 2010: Odyssey Two + 2061: Odyssey Three + 3001: The Final Odyssey – Sir Arthur C Clarke

  9. The Foundation Series – Isaac Asimov

  10. Atlas Shrugged + Fountainhead – Ayn Rand

And at present I have been swept over by a few series… two of them are

  1. A Song Of Ice and Fire – George R R Martin

  2. The Millenium Series – Stieg Larsson (ongoing read… haven’t had the time to complete it)

And I am looking forward to read The Wheel of Time Series – Robert Jordan

So that’s about the books I have on my mind. It is quite obvious that I live in a world of fantasy and historical fiction.

Update: Completed both the Millennium Series and The Wheel Of Time series about a year back.
